An Unexpected Calling

There wasn’t a big announcement. No plan, no outline, no clear next step. And yet in this quiet moment, I “heard” a simple instruction I just couldn’t shake…

Pray over your city.

I didn’t fully know what that meant. And if I’m being honest, I really didn’t think this “word from God” was for me. I’m not exactly the pray-out-loud type. Or even the go-outside type! So my first instinct wasn’t to get out there and start a prayer walk. My first instinct was to think.

How would this work? What would it look like? Who would I connect with? Was this something I was supposed to build… or something I was just supposed to do?

So I sat with it. Turned it over. Tried to make sense of it. Procrastinated, I suppose.

But the more I thought about it, the more I realized something simple…this wasn’t meant to be complicated.

It wasn’t about organizing something big (a natural inclination for me) or waiting until it was fully formed. It was about paying attention. Being present. Praying with intention over the place I’m already in.

This is what became the foundation of Pray Over Your City…a simple, accessible way to engage in prayer for your city, your neighborhood, and your local community.

It’s not about having the perfect plan. It’s not about doing it “right.” And it’s not reserved for a certain kind of person.

It’s simple.

You pray. You notice. You walk (only if you want to).

For the homes you pass by. For the people you don’t see. For the schools, the businesses, the leaders, and the spiritual atmosphere of a place.

For peace. For protection. For restoration.

Whether you’re beginning a personal prayer walk, joining others in a community prayer initiative, or simply learning how to pray for your neighborhood, this is a starting point.

What began as a question became something much more grounded. Just begin.

This space exists to make that simple step easier. To give you a starting point. And to remind you that you don’t need to have it all figured out to take part.

You just need to be willing.

And it’s still that simple.
